Canada’s political support can be turned into investment, Chamber of Commerce president says
Ukraine can be confident of Canada's reliable support, regardless of political changes in the country.
This was stated by Zenon Potichnyi, president of the Canadian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Canada has been, is, and will continue to be a reliable partner of Ukraine. There is no doubt about that. All political parties in the Canadian Parliament consistently support Ukraine, and this support does not depend on changes in government or political cycles," Potichnyi said.
He expressed his conviction that this strong political support can be transformed into large-scale private investment. “This requires a more active role for the state in the area of guarantees and risk insurance. This approach is beneficial to all parties: the government reduces the need for direct budget expenditures, and private investors receive tools for safer market entry,” said the president of the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce.
Potichnyi added that this is “a classic win-win situation that should be promoted more actively.”
As is known, since February 2022, Canada has allocated more than USD 19 billion in various forms of aid to Ukraine, half of which was military. About 300,000 Ukrainian asylum seekers have also arrived in the country.
