Trump proposes tariff-free zone for Ukraine – Witkoff
U.S. President Donald Trump has spoken about creating a tariff-free zone for Ukraine, which would give Kyiv a competitive advantage.
This was stated by U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff at the Ukrainian Breakfast held on the occasion of the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The President has talked about a tariff-free zone for Ukraine that I think would be game-changing. You'll see industry move into that area in a huge way. Imagine you get to out-compete because you're not paying tariffs and sending goods into the United States. So, there're some huge things that we've talked about that the Ukrainian people deserve because they have been so courageous in this fight, and they're under some real difficult conditions today,” he said.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka earlier noted that large-scale investments for Ukraine’s reconstruction, which over ten years could reach USD 800 billion or more, are not a matter of one but of many legal documents.
