Nearly 46% of Kyiv housing stock left without heating after Russian attack – Kuleba
As a result of the overnight attack, 5,635 buildings in Kyiv have been left without heating – about 46% of the city's housing stock. Sixty additional repair teams have been deployed to speed up restoration work.
Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukraine's energy infrastructure is once again under massive Russian shelling. The enemy used ballistic missiles and more than 300 drones against peaceful cities. Kyiv and the region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Sumy region, Odesa region, Vinnytsia region, Zaporizhzhia region, Poltava region and other regions were under attack," the statement said.
As a result of strikes on the capital, 5,635 buildings have been left without heating – about 46% of the housing stock. Twelve buildings have had no heat since January 9 due to the direct consequences of shelling. To speed up the work, 40 emergency crews from Ukrzaliznytsia and 20 teams from other regions of Ukraine have been engaged, working around the clock together with city services.
The situation with water supply in the city is also complicated. The right bank of Kyiv is operating at reduced pressure. On the left bank, about 3,500 residential buildings are temporarily without water. Restoration of supply is expected during the day.
In Dnipro and Zelenodolsk, following strikes on critical infrastructure, more than 15,000 customers have been left without heating. Repair work is ongoing, with additional resources being brought in, Kuleba added.
On the night of January 19-20, air defense units destroyed 342 enemy targets, including 14 Iskander-M/S-300 ballistic missiles, 13 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 315 drones.
