Russians attack energy facilities again at night, new power outages reported in two regions

As a result of the Russian Federation's night attack on Ukrainian energy facilities, power outages were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. By morning, most customers in the Dnipropetrovsk region had already been reconnected to the power grid.

This was announced by Acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov during a briefing, according to Ukrinform.

“Last night, the enemy launched another attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. As a result of the attack, the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions experienced short-term power outages. Energy workers began restoration work last night. By morning, users in the Dnipropetrovsk region had almost completely been reconnected,” Nekrasov said.

According to him, repair work is ongoing in the region to restore electricity and heat supply as soon as possible.

At the same time, more than 13,000 customers in the Zaporizhzhia region remain without power. The Ministry of Energy has urged citizens to limit their use of high-power electrical appliances to prevent recurring mass power outages.

In the Zhytomyr region, more than 7,000 users remain without electricity, and emergency blackouts have been imposed in part of the region. A return to the planned hourly blackout schedule will take place immediately after the situation in the power system stabilizes.

A critical stage of emergency restoration work has been completed in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. In the capital, emergency power cuts are in effect in parts of the Pecherskyi and Holosiivsky districts, as well as on the left bank of the city. A gradual transition from the planned hourly power cuts is underway.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, 110 settlements in the Kyiv region and 48 in the Chernihiv region are without power. Repair crews from the regional power company are working to restore damaged lines.

“Currently, hourly power outage schedules are in effect in almost all regions. Emergency schedules are in effect in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as in the Odesa region, and partially in the Zhytomyr region. Their duration may depend on the drop in air temperature,” Nekrasov added.

Additionally, power restriction schedules for industry and enterprises are still in effect in all regions of Ukraine today.

In turn, DTEK reported that energy workers in the Kyiv region have been dealing with the aftermath of the bad weather, complicated by Russian shelling, for the third consecutive day. During this time, power has been restored to 370,000 families.

It is noted that 187 teams have been involved in emergency repair work, working continuously in difficult weather conditions.

“Since January 9, power has been restored to 370,000 households in the region: 280,000 after the bad weather and 90,000 after the shelling,” the statement said.

Currently, approximately 30,000 residents of the Brovary, Bucha, and Fastiv districts are without electricity due to adverse weather conditions.

In the Brovary and Boryspil districts, emergency power cuts continue due to equipment damaged by shelling.
