Pivdennyi Port resumes operations

Pivdennyi Port has reopened for vessel entry and departure. Operations in the port’s waters are being carried out in compliance with necessary safety measures and restrictions.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority on Telegram.

The authority added that oily slicks have also been detected in the waters of the port of Chornomorsk.

“All relevant services have been involved in eliminating the consequences of the enemy shelling in both port waters (Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi). Specialized vessels and oil-collection ships are currently operating,” the statement said.

As previously reported, oily slicks were recorded in the Black Sea waters within Odesa district, caused by a sunflower oil spill resulting from enemy attacks on port infrastructure. The waters of Pivdennyi Port were temporarily closed until the consequences of the vegetable oil spill were fully eliminated.

During the first two days after the strike, the port remained under continuous shelling by Russian forces, which allowed spill containment efforts to be carried out only partially.
