Ukraine’s Naftogaz under cyberattack - statement

Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine are reporting an ongoing massive cyberattack on one of their data centers.

Naftogaz Group delivered the news via Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"A large-scale cyberattack on one of the data centers used by our companies has been recorded. Currently, our websites and call center are out of service," the statement reads.

Naftogaz will be delivering updates on the timeline for the resumption of services.

As reported, on the morning of December 12, Kyivstar, Ukraine’s major telecommunications operator, was targeted in powerful cyberattack, which led to a massive service failure. Mobile communication and internet access services became unavailable to customers across country.

The company assured that personal data of subscribers were not compromised. The management also promised compensation to subscribers who could not use the operator's services.

The Security Service of Ukraine has launched criminal proceedings into the cyberattack on Kyivstar. Investigators are probing the involvement of Russia’s intelligence agencies.
