Ukraine's parliament terminates agreement with Russia on cooperation in plant quarantine

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a bill terminating the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine.

Holos Party MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on his Telegram channel, according to Ukrinform.

He specified that 268 lawmakers had voted for the adoption of bill No. 0210.

The draft law was prepared with the aim of terminating the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine, signed in Moscow on June 7, 2011 and ratified by Law of Ukraine No. 5258-VI of September 18, 2012 "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Field of Plant Quarantine."

The agreement on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine determines the importance of cooperation in preventing the importation and spread of quarantine harmful organisms and also ensures the coordination of state phytosanitary measures.

Ukraine ratified a similar agreement with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Libya, Jordan, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Indonesia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and a number of other countries.
