Chernyshov: U.S. investigative company to join recovery of $5B in compensation for Russia's seizure of assets in Crimea

Leading international law firm Covington & Burling LLP, which acts as a legal advisor to Naftogaz Group, will engage the American investigation company K2 Integrity to enforce the USD 5 billion judgment of the Hague Tribunal in the Crimean case.

Oleksiy Chernyshov, chairman of Naftogaz of Ukraine announced this on July 27, 2023, during a working visit to Washington, D.C., Ukrinform reports citing Naftogaz.

"The K2 team will help to search for Russian commercial assets, based on which we will plan a further strategy to enforce compensation from Russia. I believe that the path we are on will serve as an example for other companies affected by Russian war of aggression," Chernyshov said.

As reported, on April 12, 2023, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague ordered Russia to pay USD 5 billion in compensation for losses and lost property of Naftogaz in Crimea.

On April 19, 2023, the leading international law firm Covington & Burling LLP presented a strategy for enforcing the compensation from Russia. The meeting was held in Washington, DC.
