Developing Ukraine's agri-, energy capacities will protect world from chaos - Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that the development of agricultural and energy capacities in Ukraine will bring stability to the world and protect it from chaos.
He said this at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, speaking about five main areas of reconstruction, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The second important aspect of reconstruction is stability. By building agricultural and energy capacities in Ukraine, we protect the world from chaos," the President said.
According to him, at least 600 million consumers around the world directly depend on Ukrainian agricultural production. This is a huge potential for food security.
During the war, when Russia blocked Ukrainian ports and destroyed freedom of navigation in the Black and Azov Seas, the world saw the importance of grain from Ukraine. Without it there was a threat of price crises and social collapse in different countries, Zelensky stated.
"We have now partially restored the movement of our food by sea through two export initiatives. This is stability for a huge social and economic space," the President emphasized.
Another important aspect for stability, in his opinion, is energy. "I believe that there was no alternative to the green transformation of the economy before. Russian war of aggression has proven that the green transformation is one of the key foundations of security," Zelensky said.
In his words, every attack on Ukrainian energy facilities and every manifestation of Russian blackmail with the energy crisis ends the era of fossil fuels and old energy habits, when entire regions of the world could depend on a single supplier, such as Russia.
The President stressed that it is green energy and the development of relevant capacities in different parts of the world that guarantee real energy stability. Ukraine, he is convinced, can and will be one of the key suppliers of clean electricity and green hydrogen to Europe. The potential of this industry alone is about USD 400 billion, Zelensky noted.
As Ukrinform reported, on June 21, an international conference on Ukraine's recovery began in London. It would determine the priority, medium-term, and long-term tasks for post-war reconstruction and modernization of the state.
