Government launching corporatization of Energoatom

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to start the procedure for corporatization of State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting, Ukrinform reports.

"With today's government decision, we are launching corporatization procedures. As a result, we will increase the efficiency of management, attract additional funds to implement new projects, and strengthen our energy independence," Shmyhal said.

According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers will transform Energoatom into a joint-stock company in accordance with the law adopted by the Parliament.

"Energoatom is one of the largest operators of nuclear power plants in Europe, the company is strategically important for the country's energy security. We are bringing it in line with international standards of corporate governance," the Prime Minister emphasized.

At the same time, he assured, 100% of the company's shares will be kept in state ownership.

As reported, the law on the corporatization of SE NNEGC Energoatom entered into force on March 23.
