PM Shmyhal holds meeting regarding privatization reform

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has held a meeting with the representatives of the Ukrainian Economy Ministry and the Ukrainian State Property Fund regarding privatization reform and the management of state-owned enterprises.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Our strategy is to minimize the share of the state in the economy while maintaining state control in strategic and important for Ukraine’s security industries,” Shmyhal noted.

In his words, the management of most state-owned enterprises is expected to be transferred to the Ukrainian State Property Fund this year. After analyzing their activities, they will be privatized or receive a new level of management under the OECD standards.

Additionally, the Ukrainian government is planning to resume large privatization in order to encourage investments, speed up the liquidation of insolvent enterprises, revise the list of strategic enterprises that are not subject to privatization, develop a management strategy for the enterprises that had been seized from sanctioned individuals, and optimize the structure of the Ukrainian State Property Fund.
