Government sets up agency for infrastructure recovery and development

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to establish a State Agency for Recovery and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, which will deal with the rebuilding of damaged housing.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this at a government meeting on January 13, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, the government is establishing a new structure on the basis of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects and the State Agency of Motor Roads - the State Agency for Recovery and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine. This will make it possible to optimize work processes, avoid chaos in the planning and implementation of projects," the Prime Minister noted.

Shmyhal recalled that yesterday in Kyiv region’s town of Irpin he, together with other officials, announced the restoration of the first 18 residential buildings that were damaged during the Russian occupation of a part of Kyiv region. Funds for the restoration will be raised through the United24 platform.

"This is the beginning of large-scale work on housing reconstruction, which we will carry out throughout the country," the Prime Minister said.

As reported, Ukraine is planning to begin the restoration of destroyed housing by using funds confiscated from Russian banks.
