Significant power shortage in Ukraine’s energy system - Ukrenergo

There remains a significant shortage of electricity in Ukraine’s power system, with the most difficult situation being observed in Kyiv region, eastern and southern regions of Ukraine as of December 24.

This was reported by NEC Ukrenergo on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"As of December 24, there is a significant shortage of electricity in the power system. All types of generation are operating, but due to shelling and equipment damage, one of the power plants has stopped generation," the statement reads.

Certain restrictions in the power transmission system, caused by damage inflicted on main grids by Russian strikes, also continue to apply. In this regard, consumption caps have been set for all regions. In case they are exceeded, emergency restrictions shall be applied.

"The most difficult situation is being observed in Kyiv and Kyiv region in the aftermath of the drone attack on December 19, as well as in the east and south, where Russia launched more artillery strikes on the frontline areas, causing damage to energy infrastructure facilities. Where possible, repair works are running around the clock", Ukrenergo emphasized.
