Ukraine already received $370M in financial aid from UN World Food Programme

Ukraine has received more than 137,000 tonnes in humanitarian food assistance and more than $370 million in financial aid from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) since the Russian full-scale invasion started.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Temporarily Occupied Territories Reintegration Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The World Food Programme is one of the largest humanitarian agencies of the UN, which has been actively helping Ukrainians since the early days of the war. WFP provides support with food products and also has a program of monetary payments for internally displaced persons and other vulnerable population categories,” the report states.

According to the ministry, since the beginning of the war, WFP has delivered more than 137,000 tonnes in humanitarian food assistance to Ukraine, mainly to the hard-to-reach and dangerous frontline and de-occupied areas.

Additionally, WFP transferred more than $370 million in financial aid to 2.2 million Ukrainians.

WFP purchases most of its products in Ukraine and cooperates with local bread producers. Humanitarian food assistance is provided mainly to hospitals, orphanages, boarding schools and the places of residence of internally displaced persons.
