Zelensky calls on France to transfer Russian oligarchs’ assets to Ukraine

In France, as in other countries of Europe and the world, there is a lot of real estate and accounts belonging to Russia, Russian oligarchs, and it would be expedient to give these assets to Ukraine, instead of allocating aid from the French budget.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with the TF1 and LCI French TV channels, Ukrinform reports.

"France has frozen some assets. The war causes destruction. Yesterday they (Russians - ed.) shelled another school, the day before yesterday they destroyed an institute... I am grateful to France for helping us. But I have a question: France supports us because it supports democracy, protecting our shared values, but there are accounts of very rich people, so give us this funds. Why are you taking from the budget? I think this is the way out. This property is worth millions, why not sell this property, freeze assets and give money, help Ukraine? I think it is fair. They take our homes, they took hundreds of thousands of homes, hundreds of thousands of apartments were destroyed," Zelensky said.

According to him, these assets include not only accounts or real estate, these can also be hidden accounts, accounts of legal entities registered in other jurisdictions, etc.

As reported, according to the Ministry of Health, more than $1 billion is needed to rebuild hospitals destroyed by Russia.
