Ukraine, Azerbaijan energy ministers discuss assistance to Ukrainian energy sector

Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko discussed assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector in a telephone conversation with Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov.

As the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports, Galushchenko and Shahbazov paid special attention to the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector in view of the massive Russian missile attacks on energy infrastructure facilities.

"The parties agreed on cooperation to help the Ukrainian energy sector, in particular, on the supply of electrical equipment," the statement reads.

Galushchenko emphasized that the Ukrainian energy system suffered large-scale damage as a result of Russian shelling, so assistance from international partners who provide materials and equipment for restoration works is very important.

As reported, the Russian missile attack on November 23 led to the temporary blackout of all nuclear power plants, most thermal power and hydropower plants. Electric power transmission facilities were also affected. Due to a decrease in the frequency in the energy system of Ukraine, emergency protection was activated at the Rivne, South Ukraine, and Khmelnytsky NPPs, as a result of which all power units automatically shut down.
