Ukraine produced 10 bcm of natural gas over nine months despite war – PM Shmyhal

In January-September 2022, Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC produced about 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is just 2% lower compared to the same period last year.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The state-owned company, Ukrgasvydobuvannya, has produced about 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas over nine months of 2022. Despite the war and all the challenges, it is just 2% lower compared to the same period last year,” Shmyhal said.

In his words, the relatively mild autumn weather and saving on energy resources have enabled Ukraine to pump in more gas volumes than that withdrawn from gas storage facilities so far.

A reminder that, as of November 8, 2022, Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities contained 14.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas (98% of domestically produced resources and 2% owned by non-residents). Additionally, thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants have 1.5 million tonnes of coal in warehouses.
