Cabinet of Ministers appoints Chernyshov as Naftogaz CEO

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Oleksiy Chernyshov, ex-minister for communities and territories development, as Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

This is stated in Government Order No. 983 dated November 3.

"To appoint Oleksiy Chernyshov as the Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Joint Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine"," the document states.

The order comes into effect on November 4.

Oleksiy Chernyshov served as the Minister for Communities and Territories Development since March 2020. Before that, since October 2019, he headed the Kyiv Regional State Administration.

Earlier, Chernyshov was engaged in investment and development business, his business interests included commercial real estate. He has degrees in law and economics.

As reported, on November 3, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Oleksiy Chernyshov from the position of Minister for Communities and Territories Development.

On November 1, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Naftogaz CEO Yuriy Vitrenko who had been holding the post since April 2021.

The chairman of the board of Naftogaz shall be appointed by the company's supervisory board. However, since September 2021, in the absence of a supervisory board, its functions are performed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as the company's shareholder.
