Ukrainian farmers harvest 26.4M tonnes of grain and leguminous crops

As of October 7, 2022, Ukrainian farmers harvested 26.4 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from 6.9 million hectares, which is 62% of the projected area.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, a total of 400 thousand tonnes of grain-grade corn was gathered from 96 thousand hectares (2.3% of the projected area), 85 thousand tonnes of buckwheat – from 58 thousand hectares (49%) and 77 thousand tonnes of millet – from 34 thousand hectares (76%).

In addition, Ukrainian farmers threshed 2.6 million tonnes of sunflower seeds from 1.3 million hectares (28% of the projected area) and harvested 505 thousand tonnes of soybeans from 211 thousand hectares (14%).

The harvesting of wheat, barley and rapeseed has ended in Ukraine. In particular, Ukrainian farmers gathered 19.2 million tonnes of wheat from 4.7 million hectares, 5.5 million tonnes of barley from 1.6 million hectares and 3.2 million tonnes of rapeseed from 1.1 million hectares.

Pea harvesting operations are near completion. A total of 251 thousand tonnes of peas have already been gathered from 110 thousand hectares (98% of the projected area).

In addition, Ukrainian farmers harvested 1.6 million tonnes of sugar beets from 33.4 thousand hectares (19%).

A reminder that the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry expects that Ukraine’s yield of grain and oilseed crops will reach about 67 million tonnes in 2022.
