Ukrainian farmers already harvest 6.5M tonnes of grain

A total of 6.5 million tonnes of the new-harvest grain has already been threshed in Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“According to the recent data from regions, early grain and leguminous crops were harvested from 2.1 million hectares (18% of the projected area). A total of 6.5 million tonnes of the new-harvest grain was threshed,” the report states.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers gathered 2.5 million tonnes of barley from 811.4 thousand hectares; 3.8 million tonnes of wheat from 2.1 million hectares; 126.8 thousand tonnes of peas from 75 thousand hectares.

Dnipropetrovsk Region, Mykolaiv Region and Odesa Region have already harvested over 1 million tonnes of grain each.

In addition, all over Ukraine, agricultural producers gathered winter rapeseed from 400 thousand hectares (33% of the projected area). A total of 896.4 thousand tonnes of rapeseed was threshed with a yielding capacity of 22.4 quintals per hectare.

A reminder that, according to the preliminary forecast, Ukraine expects to harvest 48-50 million tonnes of grain in 2022.
