Zelensky calls on G7 leaders to impose price cap on Russian oil

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has called on participants in the G7 summit to tighten sanctions against Russia, including to impose a “price cap” on Russian oil.

As Zelensky posted on Telegram, he had addressed the G7 summit participants through video conferencing.

"Ukraine feels the support of the G7 states. Thank you for your security and financial assistance to our country in the fight against the Russian invasion. The consistent position of the G7 countries on sanctions is also important to us," Zelensky said.

The President stressed that sanctions should be further strengthened, in particular by imposing a “price cap” on oil exported by the aggressor.

As reported, the G7 summit is held under the chairmanship of Germany in the Bavarian Alps on June 26-28.

A full-scale Russian military aggression has been going on in Ukraine since February 24.
