Australia provides USD173 million in aid to Ukraine

Australia has so far granted USD173 million in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Miroshnychenko, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

“To date, the total amount that Australia has provided to Ukraine is USD173 million. More than 40 million tonnes of humanitarian aid have been provided, as well as 70,000 tonnes of coal have been donated by Australia," said Vasyl Miroshnychenko.

He also recalled that last week the Australian Ministry of Defense approved an additional package of military assistance to Ukraine, which includes six towed 155mm howitzers and ammunition for these artillery systems.

“They are already in Ukraine and are helping to defend our state,” the ambassador said.

Ambassador Miroshnychenko assured that Ukrainian diplomats have been working to expand this support.

As reported, on April 4, in response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Australian government imposed financial sanctions and bans on 110 individuals, including Russian MPs and 34 leaders of the so-called "LPR" and "DPR" self-proclaimed republics in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine’s Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
