Government keeps gas prices for population unchanged

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision to keep gas prices for the population unchanged.

"Today, we adopt a decision to keep gas prices for people unchanged. No increase. UAH 8 per 1 cubic meter as before. The preferential price will remain in place for enterprises that perform critical functions to ensure the country's defense capabilities," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting, Ukrinform reports.

Moreover, the Government recommends that local authorities and utility companies should not to increase utility tariffs during the martial law and state of emergency in Ukraine. Utility tariffs for people should not increase.

"However, we also urge Ukrainians to continue to pay their utility bills so that companies have the opportunity to make repairs and pay salaries to employees," Shmyhal said.

As reported, prices for gas futures to be delivered in April soared by 18.9% after it became known about Russia's plans to seek payment in roubles for gas sold to "unfriendly" countries.
