Shmyhal orders Galushchenko to control timeliness of payments for coal

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has instructed Energy Minister German Galushchenko to control the timeliness of payments for coal being shipped by state coal mining enterprises, according to the government's website.

"Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has tasked Energy Minister German Galushchenko with controlling the process of market participants making timely payments for shipped products so that the funds are used to pay salaries to miners in the coming days," the report said.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy was ordered to prepare this week a report on the execution by the directors of mines of the government's order to spend 80% of funds from sales on the payment of salaries to salaries.

"The state performs and will continue to perform its obligation to miners so that they do not have any wage arrears. The arrears must be repaid as soon as possible, and they should not be accumulated," the report said.

The Energy Ministry this week plans to transfer over UAH 700 million to pay salaries to employees of state coal mining enterprises.

In addition, on December 8, the Ministry of Energy transferred UAH 300 million to pay salaries to employees of state-owned mines. As of early December, wage arrears at Ukraine's state coalmines reached UAH 2.34 billion.
