Zelensky: Average monthly salary of Ukrainians exceeded $500 this year

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that this year, for the first time in the past 30 years, the average monthly salary of Ukrainians in U.S. dollar terms exceeded $500.

He said this in his annual address to the Verkhovna Rada on the internal and external situation of Ukraine, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“From today, December 1, the minimum wage in Ukraine totals 6,500 hryvnias. Not only have we raised the minimum wage, this year the average monthly wage has exceeded $500 in dollar equivalent for the first time in the past 30 years,” Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform reported, from December 1, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021," the subsistence level for persons who lost their ability to work is raised from UAH 1,854 to UAH 1,934, which is the basis for recalculation of those components of pension benefits which depend on the subsistence level.

In addition, according to this law, from December 1, the minimum wage will grow to UAH 6,500.
