Government approves draft agreement on raising funds for energy efficiency measures

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft loan agreement (EUR 25.5 million) and a grant (EUR 1 million) between the Government of Ukraine and the German state-owned development bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) for the implementation of energy efficiency measures.

The relevant decision was approved at a government meeting on November 24, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The funds will be used to implement energy efficiency measures in kindergartens and schools of Zhytomyr and Zaporizhzhia city councils.

The loan interest rate will be 2%, the fee on liabilities - 0.25%. The grace period is 10 years, the total repayment period is 30 years. Local government bodies must ensure loan repayment.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine will received a grant of EUR 1 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for energy saving measures in hospitals. Earlier, the EIB provided a loan of EUR 300 million to improve the energy efficiency of about 1,000 public buildings
