Ukroboronprom approves projects on two programs

The Board of Directors of Ukraine’s State Concern Ukroboronprom has approved projects on two programs: import substitution and energy efficiency, Ukrinform reports referring to the concern’s press service.

It is noted that the import substitution program provides for the reduction of risks of dependence on foreign products, works or services at Ukroboronprom enterprises in the medium term.

This includes the replacement of a number of imported components used for the production of weapons. In particular, the state-owned Antonov Company has started to implement measures that will make it possible to manufacture three An-178 aircraft without Russian components.

At the same time, the energy efficiency program includes measures to reduce the share of energy expenditures in the cost of Ukroboronprom’s products. In particular the implementation of pilot ESCO projects is envisaged.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukroboronprom and the U.S. Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen partnerships in the defense industry.
