Shmyhal: Development of science will promote economic growth

The development of science, research infrastructure and support for young scientists is an important prerequisite for Ukraine's economic growth.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a meeting with President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoliy Zagorodny, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government portal.

"The State pays special attention to the development of science and research infrastructure, support for young talented Ukrainian scientists because this is the prerequisite for economic growth," said Shmyhal.

In turn, Zagorodny informed Shmyhal about the process of reforming the National Academy of Sciences, in particular, the implementation of housing programs for young scientists, with the support of the Government. In addition, this year the funding for research laboratories and groups of young scientists has been significantly increased. This made it possible to announce another competition for grants from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and to provide funding to 14 youth laboratories and 56 groups.

The Prime Minister noted that the support of young scientists should be actively extended to all regions of Ukraine.
