Ukraine harvests over 10.3M tonnes of sugar beets

In Ukraine, 10.3 million tonnes of sugar beets were gathered from 217.9 thousand ha (96% of projected area), with a yield capacity being 470.7 centner/ha, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

It is noted that sugar beet harvesting campaign has been completed in Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions. The highest average yield of sugar beets has been recorded in Lviv region - 557.9 centner/ha.

As of November 18, 2021, Ukrainian farmers produced 7.11 million tonnes of sugar and processed 6.45 million tonnes of sugar beets, according to the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine.

The sugar beet processing is carried out at 29 sugar refineries across the country.

As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Statistics Service, the average consumer prices for sugar grew to UAH 28.69 per kilogram in September 2021 from UAH 14.94 per kilogram in September 2020.
