Ukraine to launch large-scale energy modernization program next year – Shmyhal

At the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky, a large-scale energy modernization program will be launched in Ukraine next year.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a briefing following his working visit to Ternopil region, where he checked the reconstruction of a modernized boiler house at Ternopil’s municipal district heating utility company, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Government portal.

“The Prime Minister added that at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky, a large-scale energy modernization program would be launched in Ukraine next year. According to the Head of Government, a set of energy efficient measures will help reduce the sums in utility bills for people,” the report says.

Shmyhal stressed that the modernization of boiler facilities is aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing heat loss during its transportation by networks.

It is noted that the reconstruction of the boiler house at Ternopil’s municipal district heating utility company is held with the support provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Shmyhal stressed that this is another example of the success of decentralization reform, when local authorities implement joint projects with international financial organizations.

As Ukrinform reported, on November 16, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal is on a working trip to Ternopil region.
