U.S. welcomes Ukraine's joining Global Methane Pledge

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has welcomed Ukraine's joining the Global Methane Pledge, which aims to cut methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030.

According to Ukrinform, the embassy announced this on Twitter.

"The United States is taking strong action on climate change, including partnering with the EU on the Global Methane Pledge to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% by 2030. We applaud Ukraine joining the pledge, launched yesterday at the COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference," the tweet reads.

More than a hundred countries participating in the UN climate summit supported the initiative to reduce methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030.

On October 29, the government portal reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had approved respective letters to Frans Timmermans, Vice President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, and John Kerry, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, on Ukraine's joining the Global Methane Pledge.
