Passenger flow in Ukraine grows by almost 27% - State Statistics Service

The number of passengers served by Ukrainian transport companies grew by 26.6% in January-September 2021 compared with the relevant period in 2020, to 47.0 billion passenger-kilometers, Ukrinform reports, referring to data provided by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In total, over the first nine months of 2021, almost 1.98 billion passengers used the services of domestic transport companies, which is 4.2% more compared with January-September 2020.

In particular, the number of passengers carried by rail in January-September 2021 reached 62.6 million, which is 21.1% more compared with the same period last year; passenger turnover totaled 12.21 billion passenger-kilometers (down 49.8%).

Some 816.9 million passengers were carried by motor vehicles in January-September 2021, which is 1.2% more compared with the same period last year, passenger turnover amounted to 14.01 billion passenger-kilometers (down 2.6%).

Ukrainian airlines carried 7.1 million passengers over the reporting period, which is 86.7% more than in January-September 2020; passenger turnover amounted to 13.73 billion passenger-kilometers (up 73.8%).

As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Statistics Service, the passenger turnover of transport enterprises amounted to 49.4 billion passenger-kilometers in 2020, which is down 53.9% compared with 2019.
