Ukraine technically prepared for synchronization with ENTSO-E - Galushchenko

Ukraine is technically prepared to synchronize the country's power grid with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), according to Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko.

He said this at an event titled "Ukraine's integration into ENTSO-E: a step towards energy independence," according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"It can be stated that technically, Ukraine has passed this way and is ready for synchronization," Galushchenko said.

He noted that from the point of view of regulatory issues, there are still problems that need to be addressed. In particular, it is necessary to achieve market regulation according to the standards of the European Union, he said.

Galushchenko said he hopes that thanks to interdepartmental cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities will be able to achieve regulatory coordination with Europe.

Earlier reports said that the economic effect of the synchronization of the Ukrainian power grid with ENTSO-E will amount to $1.5 billion per year.

The synchronization of the Ukrainian power grid with ENTSO-E is scheduled for 2023. The test operation of the power grids of Ukraine and Moldova in an isolated mode is planned for February 2022, which is one of the stages of integration of the Ukrainian power system into ENTSO-E.

ENTSO-E represents 43 electricity transmission system operators from 36 countries across Europe.
