Mylovanov: Ukraine cooperates with investors from America to Asia but not with enemies

Ukraine is ready to cooperate with investors from any country, except for the countries that harm national security or work strategically against it.

"We work with everyone except for our enemies: those who are either at war with us or try to create problems to us, harm national security or work strategically against us," Tymofiy Mylovanov, adviser to the Head of the President’s Office, President of the Kyiv School of Economics, said on the air of Dom TV channel.

That is why Ukraine cooperates, of course, with Europe, with the United States, with the countries of Asia, "with a belt of countries from the [United Arab] Emirates to Qatar."

Much, according to Mylovanov, depends on specific projects.

"Sometimes projects are purely economic. Indeed, they are interesting to us. Sometimes there are strategic projects, when they benefit us, companies, and the country. For example, if we build a logistics hub or port to ensure food security in Europe or the Arab world. Then strategic interests coincide: they want to buy from us, and we want to sell to them, and we want to do it through ports, but it is simply a question of logistics," Mylovanov explained.

Sometimes there are more conflict situations as it was around the Motor Sich Ukrainian defense plant.

"It's a military asset with technology. The United States has its stance, China has its own. Many other countries, although they may not say so publicly, have their own stance, particularly Russia. That is, it is an asset with very sensitive technologies that are related to security, defense industry, military-industrial complex. Therefore, everything is much more delicate, and everything needs to be done more carefully, and it turns out more slowly, of course," said the adviser to the President's Office.

The country is not only interested in investments but also in the development of Ukrainian business exports, he said. The more companies earn, the bigger taxes the state will receive. Therefore, the number of countries with which Ukraine signed or renewed bilateral agreements on free trade areas is expanding.

"What are we talking about when we talk about free trade areas? We are talking primarily about reducing tariffs, barriers, recognizing mutual certificates. After all, the markets of other countries have their own regulations, their own legislation, their own certificates, sometimes you have to pay import duties. The recognition of certificates or standards, reduction of duties are the specific solutions that allow our business to move faster, sell more, and earn more," Mylovanov explained.
