Ukraine pumped almost 3 bcm of gas into underground storage facilities

Ukraine has already pumped almost 3 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas into its underground gas storage facilities in the current pumping season, Ukrinform reports, referring to the press service of JSC Ukrtransgaz.

"In August 2021, 1 bcm of natural gas was pumped into Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities, which is 3.6 times more than in August 2020. In total, 2.9 billion cubic meters of gas have been pumped into the underground storage facilities since the beginning of this year's pumping season," reads the report.

As of September 1, foreign traders stored 3.3 bcm of gas in the “customs warehouse” mode. This is 58% less than in the same period last year.

Resident companies store 0.9 bcm in the "customs warehouse" mode, which is 1.4 times less than in the same period in 2020.

As reported, as of September 2, Ukrtransgaz pumped more than 18 bcm of natural gas into underground gas storage facilities. According to the company’s assessments, this will be enough to comfortably pass through the heating season in Ukraine.

Ukrtransgaz expects that more than 19 bcm will be pumped into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities by the beginning of the heating season.
