Ukrtransgaz pumps over 18 bcm of gas into underground storage facilities

JSC Ukrtransgaz pumped more than 18 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas into its underground gas storage facilities as of September 2, Ukrtransgaz Acting CEO Serhiy Pereloma has said.

“At night we crossed the mark of 18 billion cubic meters of gas, which is stored in underground storage facilities,” Pereloma said.

According to him, about 4 billion cubic meters are currently stored in underground gas storage facilities in the “customs warehouse” mode.

Pereloma estimates the volumes of gas pumped into the storage facilities as sufficient for a stable passage of the heating season.

He also noted that the provision of Ukraine with gas in the autumn-winter period depends not only on the filling of gas storage facilities, but also on domestic production and the possibility of importing fuel.

As reported, Ukrtransgaz expects that more than 19 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be pumped into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities before the heating season starts.
