National Bank raises discount rate to 8%

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to raise the discount rate to 8% per annum, NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko has said.

"The Board of the National Bank has decided to raise the discount rate to 8% per annum," Shevchenko said at a briefing on July 22, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As Ukrinform reported, in June, the National Bank decided to keep the discount rate at 7.5%.

From April 16, the NBU raised the discount rate from 6.5% to 7.5%, and from March 5 - from 6% to 6.5%. The discount rate at the level of 6% had been in effect in Ukraine since June 2020. Since last summer, the NBU Board several times decided to keep it at the same level.
