MPs abolish free economic zone ‘Crimea’

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed on the whole the bill on the abolition of the free economic zone in Crimea.

As an Ukrinform correspondent reported, 328 MPs voted for the draft law No. 5502-d “On recognizing as invalid the Law ‘On the creation of a free economic zone ‘Crimea’ and on the peculiarities of economic activity in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine’ and on amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine’ on July 1.

The law recognizes as invalid the Law of Ukraine “On Creation of a Free Economic Zone ‘Crimea’ and on the Peculiarities of Economic Activity in the Temporarily Occupied Territory of Ukraine” and amends the laws of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens and the Legal Regime in the Temporarily Occupied Territory of Ukraine”, “On Notaries”, “On Free Legal Aid”, “On State Lotteries in Ukraine”.

The law abolishes the regime of the free economic zone “Crimea” in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and establishes the peculiarities of economic relations in the temporarily occupied territory, taking into account the restrictions caused by the occupation and the requirements of international partners.

In addition, the law regulates the procedure for entry into and exit from the temporarily occupied territory, enshrines the right to free secondary legal aid for citizens of Ukraine living in the temporarily occupied territory, and ensures the exercise of inheritance rights of such persons.

This law enters into force three months upon the date of its publication.
