Economy Ministry improving corporate governance legislation

The Economy Ministry is working on bringing the draft law on reforming the corporate governance of state-owned enterprises in line with international best practices.

Deputy Economy Minister Kristina Holubytska said this at the round table discussion "Corporate Governance of SOEs in Ukraine: A Review of Ukraine’s position against the OECD  SOE Guidelines,” Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Economy Ministry.

"Today, we work closely with experts and development partners, MPs and committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to improve legislation to enhance the corporate governance of legal entities whose shareholder is the state. The purpose of these discussions is to develop a truly high-quality, important and effective bill for its speedy adoption and implementation," said Holubytska.

According to her, the Verkhovna Rada has already registered bill No.5593 and two alternative projects on corporate governance reform. Holubytska stressed that for its part, the Economy Ministry is developing proposals that will bring the legislation on corporate governance of state-owned companies in line with best international practices and OECD recommendations.

As Ukrinform reported, First Deputy Prime Minister – Economy Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Liubchenko stressed that the reform of corporate governance of state-owned enterprises should become a driver of Ukraine's economic development system. He assured that the government would take an active part in completing the bill on improving the corporate governance system of state-owned enterprises.
