Third meeting of Ukraine-North Macedonia intergovernmental commission held in Kyiv

Kyiv city hosted the third meeting of Ukraine-North Macedonia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Economy Ministry’s press service.

During the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the Third Session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and a number of agreements between ministries and departments of the two countries.

"The meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is a great opportunity to determine joint initiatives and areas of activities that are of interest to Ukraine and North Macedonia so that to develop mutually beneficial relations. Currently, the most promising areas of cooperation are green energy, environmental protection, transport and tourism, infrastructure development, industry, agriculture and sports," said Ukrainian Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka.

The parties also discussed general economic situation in both countries, as well as outlined the mechanism of further bilateral cooperation. In particular, they discussed initiatives implemented by the Ukrainian side to resume economic growth and create new opportunities for attracting investment, such as the launch of the land market, large-scale privatization, digitalization of public services, reduction of the shadow economy, introduction of European norms in Ukraine, etc.

The parties agreed to take all possible measures to create a favorable business environment and strengthen business ties between the countries.

Following the meeting, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the Agency for Youth and Sports of the Republic of North Macedonia signed an agreement on cooperation in youth, physical culture and sports, and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of North Macedonia signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine and plant protection.
