Land market to start operating from July 1 – PM instructs to prepare documents

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal instructed Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko to prepare all regulations to ensure the operation of the land market from July 1.

"I instructed Minister of Agrarian Policy Roman Leshchenko to prepare all the regulations necessary for the implementation of this reform crucial for every Ukrainian," Shmyhal posted on Telegram following the preparatory meeting with the participation of government officials, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, and the President’s Office on May 25.

He noted that a full-fledged land market would start operating in Ukraine on July 1.

As reported, on March 31, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada passed the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Circulation of Agricultural Land." The document stipulates that the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land, except for state-owned land, will be lifted from July 2021. Citizens of Ukraine, territorial communities, and the state may acquire the right of ownership of agricultural land plots.
