Ukroboronprom corporatization will make military-industrial complex effective and transparent - Husev

The adoption of the law on reforming the state concern Ukroboronprom will open new opportunities for the domestic defense industry to be more efficient, transparent and resistant to corruption, Ukroboronprom Director General Yuriy Husev has said at the round table meeting “Ukraine’s state defense industry: on the way to restart”.

“This area needs to be reformed, the introduction of a modern corporate governance system that will enable the transfer of technology, investment, access to international capital markets, the creation of projects and programs with our partners - especially with NATO member states - that will move forward the country's defense and industrial complex,” Husev stressed, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Husev, the relevant bill is being developed for second reading in parliament. The transition to a corporate governance system envisaged by the document will create anti-corruption safeguards - so that officials and civil servants do not want to use the defense industry for personal gain or for political purposes. Instead, the defense industry will work exclusively in the interests of the state and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, on January 29, the Verkhovna Rada passed at first reading the draft law, No.3822, "On the peculiarities of reforming the enterprises of the military-industrial complex of the state form of ownership", necessary for the reorganization of the state concern Ukroboronprom.
