Razumkov signs law that brings integration of Ukraine’s energy system into EU market

Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament signed the Law “On amending certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding certification of transmission system operator”, which brings the integration of Ukraine's energy system into the European Union’s market, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Verkhovna Rada’s website.

“Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov signed the Law of Ukraine ‘On amending certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding certification of transmission system operator’ (No. 3364-1-d)”, reads the report.

The law provides for the introduction of the electricity market in accordance with the provisions of the European Union’s Third Energy Package and Energy Community. In particular, the law allows NEC Ukrenergo to be certified as a European-style transmission system operator (TSO) according to the ISO (independent system operator) model.

The law also aims to simplify the procedures for electricity export-import with Ukraine and EU countries. The document provides for the creation of opportunities for the introduction of joint auctions for the distribution of interstate crossing capacity.

The law has been submitted to the President of Ukraine for signature.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada approved the Law “On amending certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding certification of transmission system operator” at an extraordinary meeting on April 15.
