Ukraine’s milk production decreased by 6.2%

Milk production in Ukraine decreased by 6.2% between January-March 2021 compared with the same period in 2020, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In particular, Ukraine’s milk output amounted to 1.75 million tonnes between January-March 2021, including 671.7 thousand tonnes produced by agricultural enterprises (down 0.5% from last year) and 1.08 million tonnes by private households (down 7.4%).

The highest volumes of milk production over the reporting period were recorded in the Poltava region – 152.0 thousand tonnes (down 6.2% from last year); Vinnytsia region – 143.6 thousand tonnes (down 6.1%), Khmelnytskyi region – 131.1 thousand tonnes (up 3.9%).

The lowest volumes of milk production over the reporting period were recorded in the Luhansk region - 15.5 thousand tonnes (down 8.3% from last year); Donetsk region – 29.0 thousand tonnes (down 8.5%); Zaporizhzhia region – 37.1 thousand tonnes (down 7.0%).

As reported, according to data provided by the State Statistics Service, Ukraine’s milk production totalled 1.84 million tonnes between January-March 2020, which is 2.8% less in the same period last year.
