Ukrainian tour operator launches direct flights to Kenya

Ukrainian tour operator Travel Professional Group launched direct flights between Ukraine and Kenya, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya.

Kenya received the first charter flight on the route Kyiv-Mombasa on April 17.  The solemn ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya Andriy Pravednyk and Minister of Tourism and Wildlife of Kenya Najib Balala, as well as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Mombasa Oleksiy Serkov, representatives of TPG and the Kenyan Tourist Board.

"According to the previously reached agreement between the Ukrainian and Kenyan parties, a direct dialogue was initiated between the Ukrainian company TPG and the Kenyan Tourist Board. In the context of challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the new tourist destination and direct flights will be an additional opportunity for the development of interpersonal contacts, including in the tourism sector,” reads the report.

The embassy noted that Kenya's tourism potential is perhaps the unique and diverse on the African continent. In particular, the country is known for the "Big Five" (lion, rhino, leopard, elephant and kaffir buffalo).

Ukrainian diplomats said they hope that in the future direct flights will provide an opportunity for Kenyan partners to discover Ukraine's diverse tourism potential.
