Only millet prices decreased among grocery products over past year

From March 2020 to March 2021, only millet prices decreased among grocery products in Ukraine – by 16.7%, up to UAH 18.51 per kg, Ukrinform reports with reference to the State Statistics Service.

Since March 2020, buckwheat has risen in price by 33.3%, to UAH 40.01 per kg on average; rice has grown in price by 13.8%, to UAH 25.99 per kg, semolina - by 29.4%, to UAH 17.44 per kg, peeled barley – by 28.8%, to UAH 14.75 per kg. Compared to March 2020, only millet fell in price - by 16.7%, to UAH 18.51 per kg.

In March 2021, the average price of high-grade wheat bread totalled UAH 29.33 per 1 kg (up 20.3% from March 2020); first-grade wheat bread - UAH 23.19 per 1 kg (up 17.1%); rye and rye-wheat bread - UAH 24.27 per 1 kg (up 16.9%); French bread - UAH 15.86 per 0.5 kg (up 14.5%).

Over the reporting period, pasta from soft wheat flour rose in price by 24.0%, up to an average of UAH 22.88 per kg; wheat flour - by 24.7%, up to UAH 14.14 per kg; sugar - by 67.6%, up to UAH 24.38 per kg, sunflower oil - by 53.3%, up to UAH 52.58 per 1 liter.

As reported by Ukrinform, in March 2021, consumer prices in Ukraine grew by 1.7% compared to February 2021, and by 8.5% compared to March 2020. In general, consumer inflation in January-March 2021 was 7.4% compared to the same period in 2020.
