Ukraine and Turkey have significant prospects in infrastructure, industry and trade sectors, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said at a meeting with representatives of Turkish business in Ukraine.

"Turkey is an extremely important trade and economic partner for Ukraine. We highly appreciate the investment contribution of Turkish companies to the Ukrainian economy," said Shmyhal, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government portal.

The prime minister noted that the annual volume of bilateral trade between the states amounts to almost $5 billion: "Ukraine and Turkey have agreed to at least double this amount. The presidents of our states have said they want to move to the next level of relations and cooperation through renewed agreements on mutual trade."

Shmyhal noted that in order to implement an effective mechanism for attracting investment, Ukraine has restarted the work of the government office UkraineInvest and set up Public-Private Partnership Support Agency.

"We are consolidating our efforts and plan to introduce a single platform to support foreign investors in Ukraine. We hope that all these steps will contribute to further development of our relations," he said.

For their part, representatives of Turkish business noted that a promising area of bilateral cooperation is the development of a public-private partnership format that will allow Ukraine to improve the infrastructure and economy. The participants of the meeting thanked for the dialogue and stressed that the Ukrainian authorities are systematically approaching the improvement of the investment climate in the country.
