Electricity price to remain unchanged - Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a decision to keep the price of electricity at UAH 1.68 per kWh after March 31, 2021.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated this at a government meeting on March 24, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The issue of tariffs, development of energy markets and market competition is constantly on the agenda of our government. Today we approve a decision that the price of electricity for Ukrainians remains unchanged at UAH 1.68 UAH per kWh," he said.

At the same time, the prime minister noted that Ukraine's National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom under the terms of public service obligations (PSO) can sell electricity at market prices.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 28, 2020, the Cabinet of Minister approved resolution No.1325 to abolish a preferential electricity tariff of UAH 0.9 per 1 kWh, which was valid for household consumers for the first 100 kWh per month. The Cabinet of Ministers set a fixed price of UAH 1.68 per kWh. The PSO regime was extended until March 31, 2021.
