Pensions in Ukraine will be raised in three more stages this year - Shmyhal

Pensions for different categories of retirees in Ukraine are to be raised in three more stages in 2021, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

He said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, March 10, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The policy of increasing pensions will continue. This year alone, we will have three more stages of pension increases for different categories of retirees. After all, in order for payments to increase two to three times we need a radically different approach, and we are primarily talking about a defined contribution pension system," Shmyhal said.

He recalled that the indexation of pensions began in Ukraine in March.

The Cabinet of Ministers had earlier tabled in the Verkhovna Rada a bill proposing to automatically index pensions every year from March 1.
