EBRD allocates EUR 50M to Kyiv to purchase metro cars - Klitschko

The Kyiv City Council at its meeting on Friday will approve a decision on local guarantees to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to allow conclusion of an agreement on financing purchase of metro cars for the city, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

"The bank [EBRD] has allocated EUR 50 million to Kyiv for the purchase of metro cars. We will sign a loan agreement after the Kyiv City Council approves a respective decision on Friday. And we are planning to sign a contract this year to purchase new metro cars," he said at a meeting of the Kyiv City Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As reported, in July 2019, the EBRD announced plans to provide a loan of EUR 50 million to the Municipal Enterprise “Kyivsky Metropolitan” to finance the procurement of 50 metro cars for the new metro line to Vynohradar district.
